Gay Marriage

This was going to be (yet another) rant on my blog. I deleted the rant part.
Here’s all I have to say about same-sex marriage:
Anyone out there who is gay who needs an officiant let me know. I’ll get myself ordained (Universal Life Church) and marry you. If you want a domestic partnership, I’ll go become [...]

Money, Food, or something else?

I’m unable to get to sleep tonight. Maybe it’s my screwed up sleep schedule after a week in China–I left Shanghai at 1pm, yesterday, and arrived in San Francisco at 12:50pm, yesterday. Maybe it’s been too much Neal Stephenson followed by Alan Weisman’s The World Without Us. It could also be that I avoided my [...]

Odd display problems on my blog?

I hope it’s just me, as articles are occasionally overlaying one on top of the other in my browser. I haven’t figured out why, but if you notice it, too, please let me know.

Lawrence Lessig’s philosophical lecture on corruption

Lawrence Lessig’s lecture on corruption has been sitting in my bookmarks for about 2 months. I never set aside the 1 hour and 5 minutes of time to watch it. When cleaning up my bookmarks on Friday, I decided to watch it in chunks and not put it off any longer. About 10 minutes in, [...]

As I drink….

… a lot of vodka and pomegranate concentrate

I fall in love more with flickr, and figure out how in the world to make a screencast using opensource software about Subversion.
[Edit (the next morning): My drunk posts are never as exciting as I want them to be. I did forget to post my flickr account. Nothing [...]

Debt free!

I’m totally debt free for the first time in over 12 years!
The feeling is indescribable. It’s something that I never thought would ever happen, like bending over superman and turning him into the man-of-squeal (and getting it on camera).

Welcome 2008

It always takes me like a month and a bit to get used to a new year. Okay, I’m finally used to it. It’s 2008, I’ll be turning 32 this year and… damn, I feel like I’m behind on almost everything.
I was hoping to post for like a week and a half the announcement that [...]

Short Hibernation, continued

It’s easy to see, by the dates of post, when a blog is hibernation. I decided to publicly state that the hibernation is continuing for a bit longer. Good things to come, some a long time in the works.

Republican for a month

Today I defected to the Republican party. Just in time for the California primaries. Just in time to cast my vote for Ron Paul.
Will one vote make a difference? I don’t know. But doing things I believe in helps me sleep better at night. That’s worth it to me.
Here’s to having a Grand Old Party [...]

Anti-social networking continued

As a child I hated this time of year. Family and friends had provided me with some material Christmas goodies, New Year’s meant school was about to start again, and my thank you cards remained unwritten. Not a very difficult choice for me as a young boy. I could read about elves and dwarves kicking [...]
