Script Frenzy, Done

On Thursday, June 21, 2007 at around 9pm, I finished the rough draft of my first movie script. At 20,217 words (approximately 114 pages), I also completed my first official Script Frenzy contest. All in just under three weeks, cool!

The Script Frenzy producers have had lots of success with their previous contest, the National Novel Writer’s Month. I plan on participating in that this year, too. (A novel in a month, no problem.) Unfortunately, it sounds like the Script Frenzy predictions for donations far exceeded their expenses. That’s really too bad. By participating in the Script Frenzy contest, I learned many things to improve my novel writing. Learned that as a script writer, I’m simply a cog acting as part of a larger group of actors, directors, producers, editors, cinematographers, and all the rest. As a novel writer, I am all of that. If I want people to see something, it’s up to me to describe it correctly. No one is going to come and save my butt.

If you have a spare bit of money to spare and like to support the arts, here’s a possible place to tax-deductibly donate your extra bucks. (Script Frenzy Donation Page)

(Click the certificate for ginormous view. It’s quite cool, and also quite large.)

PS. My movie script is a lot better than my first novel without any editing.
PPS. I sure do make fun of my first novel. Maybe I’ll pen name it Bob Uecker.
