900 Miles Run and Logged

When I was young, I swore I’d never be a runner. Never ever. I’ll swim and bike and that’s it.  I started running when I was 28 to get in shape, and because it was cheap in terms of cost in both time and money. In October of 2005 I started logging the miles I ran, and yesterday I crossed the 900 mile mark. That’s only a little over 13 miles a week on average. Except that when I started running I could barely make it through a half mile without stopping. Sweat ran over every inch of my body. The fat on my stomach jiggled all over… I know, unwanted image.

Today I’m going to run 6 miles with my girlfriend-soon-to-be-wife Janna. Inspiring to be in love with someone who also loves to run, since running can be a lonely sport. The bit of fat I still have left on my stomach still jiggles when I run, but the 20 lbs of fat I took off has stayed off even while I eat like I did when I was 15 years old.  And with some help from my excellent chiropractor, I’ve been basically injury free.

Stay tuned, as 2009 rolls around, I’ll be looking for people to keep me company on my hundred mile run. I guess I could name the run From Somewhere to Napa.
