My Mom and Phil: Quality Used Book Store Owners

My mom and Phil (my mom’s husband) continue to inspire me. Their most recent adventure has a part to play in my following my heart to start a writing career at the age of 30.Mom and Phil retired a few years ago. To use up some of that extra time reading. And they read a lot; I can’t keep up with the amount they read. With the way they love books, I could see only two possible routes for their future. I would have put my money on one of them writing a novel. But they informed me that they took the other option instead.

“Hey Jeremy,” Phil told me over the phone last year, “We leased an old building near Bandon, Oregon and are turning it into a used book store.”

I felt overjoyed that they would take on this venture. Phil insisted throughout the rest of the year that this was just a small hobby, a pet project. If it’s successful, great, if not, no big deal.

And this week, Phil and my mom held the grand opening of their store. Because I’m so proud of them, I am posting a few pictures that they sent to me.

Go guys! I’m rooting on you starting your second store so I can tell people you own a chain.
